Todd Boehly set £132m Enzo Fernandez plan as Malo Gusto completes Lyon move

Enzo Fernandez plan

Chelsea's transfer saga with Enzo Fernandez, despite appearing to reach a conclusion earlier in the January transfer window, could yet take another turn before deadline day. The Blues focused their attention on Moises Caicedo after advances for Fernandez were rejected by Benfica who were demanding Chelsea paid the World Cup winners £106million release clause in full.

After talk of a move died down in recent weeks, Chelsea have been handed two significant updates on Fernandez as Todd Boehly hopes to add a new midfielder to Graham Potter's squad before the end of the window.

Gusto's first words after Chelsea transfer

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old full-back Malo Gusto from Lyon on a six-and-a-half-year contract. The Frenchman will be loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the rest of the season.

The arrival of Gusto takes Todd Boehly's January spending to £213.7million following Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana through the door at Stamford Bridge. The 19-year-old has now explained his reasons behind wanting a move to Chelsea.

Moises Caicedo alternative

Arsenal and Chelsea look set for an interesting final few days of the January transfer window as both clubs push to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. The 21-year-old seems to prefer a move to Emirates Stadium after he released a statement hinting at an exit wish for this month on the same day of Arsenal's £60million bid.

Chelsea looked for a new midfielder in the summer and could only find a short-term option, signing Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus. If Arsenal is Caicedo's choice, another stop-gap option option has potentially become available to Chelsea.
