Chelsea have held talks with Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe, according to The Times (via Football.London ).
Manager Thomas Tuchel is known to be a big fan of the France international after having worked with him during his time at PSG, and it appears the Blues may well press ahead with a move for the player.
Kimpembe has reportedly been put up for sale by PSG’s new sporting director Luis Campos, who is willing to offload the centre-back for around €50m (£43m) this summer.
While the 26-year-old has stated that he is keen on staying at the Ligue One champions, talks over a new contract have stalled and, with two years remaining on his current deal, it looks as if he will be let go if a team meets the asking price.
It seems that Kimpembe is being considered as a potential alternative to Manchester City’s Nathan Ake. Both are left-footed so it’s likely only of the two would be brought in to fill the shoes of Antonio Rudiger.
