Chelsea want key England international but he seeks assurances first

Chelsea are in the hunt to sign a key England international this summer, according to various reports this week.

The Sun are the latest to run an exclusive story on Chelsea’s interest in signing Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling this week, following a number of top sources confirming it.

Andrew Dillon, who is probably one of the more reliable writers at the publication, claims that Chelsea want to sign Sterling this summer, but the player himself wants assurances over regular playing time if he is to commit to moving to London.

The price tag named in the report is £60m, which is probably too much for a player with one-year left on his contract, and a fee that Chelsea would not pay.

So something would need to be negotiated there if this is a deal to be done this window. As a Chelsea fan, it’s not something I would see as a priority, despite Sterling being a very good player.
