Chelsea manager Tuchel reveals positive dressing room ahead of Lille trip

Thomas Tuchel insists the "mood is good" in the Chelsea dressing room ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Lille. There is a dark cloud hanging over the west London club as they continue to deal with sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich.

But Tuchel says his players are fully focused on reaching the Champions League quarter-finals as they head to France with a 2-0 aggregate lead. "The mood is good," Tuchel said of his players.

"We couldn't have two more different games than we had, in Norwich and against Newcastle in terms of playing style and obstacles to overcome.

"We relied heavily on our skilful play and controlled the game versus Norwich, and we managed to win the game against Newcastle. This was a question of mentality, resilience and physicality, a question of focus and defending, being brave and staying committed.

"That makes any coach in the world very happy how we won this match, we won it late and yes, the mood is good.

"I am convinced that the team knows what it takes to be able to perform like this and produce results. This is what we are up against tomorrow at Lille.

"When I say we allow ourselves to focus on what we control, I mean it. This is what we do in the training ground.

"Like I said, the focus is to take the responsibility for the people who take the responsibility that we are in a big club. There are hundreds of them. This is what we do in the moment."
